Thoughts I just had

So... I can't believe I spent all that time posting pictures of really HOTT guys and you can't even see them now. Also I can't believe Demetri Martin made that list and Matt Damon did not.
Where are my priorities?

Anyway, my godmother's Nona died this week. She was well into her nineties and led a very fruitful and caring life, but details like that don't really help those grieving. My prayers are with the family, and I ask anyone reading this to ask whichever deity/greater reality you believe in to send a little pulse of hope and happiness to those grieving today. Thanks <3

story still developing.further details to come.

10/7-10

I have the potential to have a TOTALLY AWESOME WEEKEND!!!

Tonight alone will be fantastic- I'm going with two of my roommates and two floormates to see The Lion King ( FOR FREE!!!) and first we are getting thai food, which is always good no matter which way you slice it.

Then tomorrow I might be getting together with one of the Interfaith Scholars to discuss her Earth based spirituality. (If you know me at all, which you might not if you're some random stranger who happened upon this blog and don't at present because I haven't been writing in it for very long you know that I'm absolutely fascinated by different religious traditions.) Also, I for sure will be going to a vigil on campus honoring the memory of gay students lost to suicide because of bullying. Even though this will be a somber event, I think it will feel good to TAKE SOME ACTION, to actually DO SOMETHING in response to the hate in this world, however small that action may be. Also the vigil is at 7:30, which leaves plenty of time afterward to go out and get unabashedly drunk, as is the right and responsibility of any self respecting college student.

Then Saturday, and this is the big one, I will, in all probability, be going to the BLACKHAWKS VS. RED WINGS GAME!!!!!!! I am such a HUUUUGE Detroit Red Wings fan.
I will probably be booed when cheering for my team,
but it's totally worth it.
Especially if we kick some Blackhawk ass.
Which I'm hoping we will :D

On Sunday I will be going to my last school's production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [Abridged], which promises to be full of hilarity. Plus, apparently I count as an alumn, and my ticket has been comped. Who knew only going to a semester to a conservatory, dropping out and effectively not graduating would lend itself to such perks?

So that's my potential weekend at a glance. I know there's nooooooooo waaaaaaaay your weekend could EVER compare to the potentially awesome one I'm about to have, but try not to be too jealous and enjoy it  anyway ;)

PPF (past present and future)

It's currently 1:36 p.m. and I just woke up.
It's also a Wednesday.
Lucky for me I don't have class until 2:40 today, so no problem there. But I really did plan on getting up, getting some work done, going to the gym- you know, actually being productive in college. But I had the best night's sleep ever, really. Or at least one of the best. ahhhhh.....

Well that's neither here no there. This weekend I've got two plays on the docket: The Lion King and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged. The first is a professional musical (which EVERYONE should see at least once in their lifetimes) and the second is being put on by the conservatory I went to last year. Apparently going 1 semester makes me an alum and I get in for free, so whooopi! I mean, I would have gone anyways. I miss that theatre, miss the people.

Actually I haven't really seen anyone since I moved back to Chicago this semester. I saw two of my friends the very night I came back, for dinner with my folks, but no one since then. No, that's a lie, I ran into a fellow ditcher who also goes to DePaul now, but he was on his way to class and it was one of those quick, "O hey, how ya doin'?" moments. So that doesn't really count.

Also on Friday I have a meeting with my academic advisor to go over what classes I should be looking at for next quarter. As I'm still undeclared I suppose there'll be a lot of gen eds just waiting for me.

I seriously have no clue as to what I want to do with my life. I'm drawn to creative writing and film studies but I'm not confident that a career lies there for me down either of those roads.
I want to do something that will make a difference, really better the world.
But I'd be lying if I said money wasn't a factor.
It totally is.
I want to travel, I want to have kids, I want to do all this stuff that requires a decent pay check.

Also I'm a commitment-phobe. Really, I can't stand being tied down by something. Making plans too far in advance gets to me, because what if something better pops up? Or, more likely, what if I change my mind? I feel like it would work the same way with me in the professional workforce. I couldn't stand being tied down to a 9-5 desk job with 2 weeks vacation every year. I need the freedom to improvise!

On the flipside, I also crave stability. I would totally be freaking out if I didn't have a steady flow of income.

And I need something to feed my soul, something creative.

.......I got nothing.
